7 March 2017 - 15:03, in Events,

As a part of the SeCloud project, which is gathering the research institutions of the Brussels region on the broader topic of security engineering of cloud-based applications, the researchers of VUB SOFT and COMO groups have analysed the threat model of JavaScript, designed run-time and compile-time analysis tools, developed language extensions to enforce runtime security policies and they are working together with UC Louvain on machine-learning of vulnerabilities and interaction models.

As a result of this research, the project partners are offering a half-day workshop, aimed at anyone who is interested in understanding the security vulnerabilities of JavaScript and possible ways of making JavaScript code more resilient to threats.

  • Opening: Intro about VUB/SOFT, intro workshop, …
  • Presentation: Static detection of security vulnerabilities in JavaScript
  • Presentation: Dynamic enforcement of security policies in JavaScript
  • Break
  • Tutorial: JavaScript proxies for securing JavaScript applications
  • Hands-on: Juice Shop: hacking an intentionally unsafe web application
  • Closing remarks

Presenters: VUB/SOFT: Elisa Gonzalez Boix, Coen De Roover, Jens Nicolay, Angel Luis Scull Pupo
